Campus Live Website

In class last week I heard about the CampusLive webpage for Clemson. It is a great homepage website for Clemson students and is perfect example of a web 2.0 technology. The site has links to frequently visited sites for Clemson students including the following: blackboard, webmail, facebook, CNN, and ESPN. There is also local dining phone numbers and menus and a three day forecast. The simple design is easy to use and has news highlights which could help students become more informed on what is going on in the world. There is also a daily raffle which may entice students to use the site more frequently.

After watching the Web 2.0 video, it made me realize how simple the web has made it to connect to other people. We can read articles from around the world without even using a sheet of paper or leaving our house. A program like this blogging system makes it so user friendly that even the least tech-savvy people will be able to figure out how to use it. I had to take a computer science class last year, and all of the coding was so tedious and confusing. The lay out of websites now make it so it is done by professionals with no need to understand the different codes they use. It is much more ergonomic and more aesthetically pleasing than even five years ago. It amazes me to think about how quickly technology is changing and that it allows our world to be so instantaneously connected. What worries me is how much information is out on the Internet about us, and that the people who control the Internet will hold so much power over us. Hopefully with time improvements can be made on that aspect of the Internet.
